“To retrieve a pattern and place it somewhere else ” is how Mirjana Ciric describes her working process. In the installation presented here, Ciric combines collaged paintings with ceramics in the same intuitive way she connects pattern to shape within her work. She takes fragments of patterned paper and precisely cuts and reorganizes the angles - so that the interstices don’t quite meet, and are off register in a way that pleases. Mixing shape with pattern, Ciric transfers geometric patterns to the surface of the clay forms/sculptures. We are surprised at the juxtaposition of delicate next to rough forms, by the subtle relationship of the rational to the chaotic…
